Paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) is an optical coherence tomography finding seen in patients with retinal capillary ischemia and unspecific persistent scotomas. PAMM occurs as an isolated phenomenon or as complicating feature of an underlying retinal vasculopathy or systemic disease. Several studies have demonstrated that areas of inner retinal atrophy resembling PAMM can commonly be seen even in healthy patients, those with hypertension, or with retinal vein occlusions in the fellow eye [14,22]. Treatment / Management. Currently, there is no treatment for PAMM. Symptomatic scotomas may fade but are usually persistent. Because these lesions are often associated with other ... PAMM was first reported as a cause of unexplained vision loss in otherwise healthy subjects by Sarraf and associates.1 Patients typically presented with paracentral scotoma which persisted over the course of the condition.1 Currently PAMM is considered a manifestation of focal ischemia of the deep deep retinal circulation that may herald the presence of a secondary underlying condition.2 ... PURPOSE: To describe a case of paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) associated with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) in a patient affected by amyloid light-chain (AL)-amyloidosis. METHODS: One patient with confirmed diagnosis of AL-amyloidosis, displaying PAMM and CRVO, was recruited. The patient underwent complete ophthalmologic examination and multimodal imaging, including ... En face optical coherence tomography (OCT) demonstrated paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) lesions in a perivenular fern-like pattern leading to the diagnosis of central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). En face OCT can be an important modality to identify the distribution of abnormalities of the middle retina such as PAMM. The distribution of PAMM lesions in the posterior pole will be a ... Introduction: Paracentral acute middle maculopathy (PAMM) is a tomographic finding of a retinal occlusive vascular disorders with different aetiologies. Despite the well documented triple association among hyper-homocysteine, retinal vein occlusion and PAMM, up to date no reports exist on the development of PAMM in young patients affected by ulcerative colitis (UC).
